SAN FRANCISCO - Freshman Daniel Kim and sophomore Thomas Hutchison each scored top-20 finishes to lead UC Davis to a sixth-place finish at the 13-team Olympic Club Intercollegiate men's golf tournament at the Olympic Club Tuesday. Kim carded a 2-over-par 73 in the final round to close his tournament with 219 strokes, while Hutchison shot a 74 to finish a stroke behind at 220.
UC Davis totaled 295 for Tuesday's final 18 holes to end the event with 873 total strokes, five behind host San Francisco and BYU. Nevada stormed to a 286 in the final round to overtake Cal State Fullerton for the team title at 849, one ahead of the Titans. The Wolf Pack's Sam Meek also charged to the individual medalist honors, finishing with 209 strokes to edge Cal State Fullerton's Derek Castillo and Santa Clara's Matthew McCarty by a single stroke.
For the Aggies, senior Ryan Han finished in a tie for 24th place while redshirt freshman Shane Muldowney closed out in t27th with totals of 220 and 221, respectively. Freshman Natheethorn Teacharuangchit ended his day in T53rd, but did enjoy UC Davis' Tuesday low round of 1-over 72. Another senior, Jesse Bratz competed as an individual for the Aggies, scoring a 3-over 74 on Tuesday for a 223-stroke total.
UC Davis will break for final examinations before returning to action at Stanford's The Goodwin on March 28-30.
