Han fires 4-under 67 for team's low round of Day 1

SAN FRANCISCO -- Senior Ryan Han carded a second round of 4-under-par 67 to lead UC Davis through 36 holes at the Olympic Club Intercollegiate men's golf tournament at the Olympic Club Monday. As a team, the Aggies shot a 1-under 283 in that second round to close out the first day in fifth place.

Cal State Fullerton leads the team race with a 558 total, thanks to matching rounds of 5-under 279. Titan Derek Castillo leads the individual medalist standings with rounds of 65 and 69.

Han overcame a 76 in the first round by sinking three birdies in his first four holes en route to his 67, his best round to par since his 5-under 66 at the Alister Mackenzie Invitational last October. The aerospace engineering major from Hollister enjoyed a clean sheet in that second round, adding a fourth birdie on the 418-yard second.

Sophomore Thomas Hutchison, freshman Daniel Kim and redshirt freshman Shane Muldowney each finished the first day with a share of 22nd place. Hutchison and Muldowney each shot 74 followed by a 71 toward a 3-over 145 total. Kim fired the Aggies' low round of 71 then added a 74 in the afternoon for his 145.

Senior and individual entrant Jesse Bratz turned in scores of 75 and 74 for a tie for 41st place while freshman Natheethorn Teacharuangchit improved from an 83 in the opening 18 to a 74 in the second round for T64th place.
