SAN DIEGO, Calif. — UC Davis men's tennis fell 4-0 on the road at San Diego State, and kicked off the 130th Annual Pacific Coast Men's Doubles Championships on Thursday.
The duo of David Goulak and Ivan Thamma continue to roll in doubles play, winning their eighth straight match, and nine of their last ten. Unfortunately, the Aggies were not able to earn another win in doubles, and dropped the doubles point for just the second time this season.
The Aztecs carried their momentum into singles play, and won the matches at Nos. 2, 3, and 5 in straight sets to clinch the match 4-0.
After a quick jaunt to the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, the Aggie tandems of Dariush Jalali and Chethan Swanson, as well as Arjith Jayaraman and Mitchell Iwahiro opened the Pac Coast Championships in the Round of 128. Jalali and Swanson matched up against Cal's Dominic Barretto and Bjorn Hoffmann, and fell in a tight 8-6 pro-set, while Jayaraman and Iwahiro dropped an 8-0 decision to Brady Draheim and Mathieu Scaglia (Oklahoma State).
The Aggies return to action Friday with another match in the Round of 128, and three teams awaiting winners in the Round of 64.
