Davis, Calif. - UC Davis opened its first home meet at Schaal Aquatic Center in midseason form on Friday afternoon, defeating Cal State East Bay, Pepperdine, and UC San Diego to finish 3-0 on the day.
The Aggies got six event wins on the day but no group was more dominant than UC Davis divers were on Friday.
Taylor Hornberger took wins in the 1-meter and 3-meter events with scores of 297.15 and 278.15 respectively. Hornberger's 1-meter score is a new school record, breaking her own mark set last season against Cal State East Bay.
UC Davis took spots 1-6 on the 1-meter board and 1-5 on the 3-meter board, securing valuable points in what was a tight battle between the Aggies and UC San Diego late in the meet.
Olivia Smith took the 1000 Free in 10:21.79, about four seconds off her PR at that distance.
Mia Facey got a win in the 100 IM, just out-touching teammate
Kyla Leacox in 58.27 to 58.49. Facey's time was a lifetime PR in the 100 IM and the fastest by an Aggie in the event over the last four years.
Also taking an individual event win was
Amanda Wilson in the 200 Fly, an event UC Davis went 1-4 in. Wilson's 2:05.52 was just ahead of freshman
Sophia Sebastian in 2:06.19.
In all, the Aggies clocked at least one top-three finish in 12 of 13 events on Friday evening.
All four schools will be back on Saturday for a 16-event schedule beginning at 9 a.m. at Schaal Aquatic Center.
