2020-21: MPSF CHAMPION, 500 FREESTYLE (4:54.95)... ALL-MPSF FIRST TEAM in both 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle... Finished 2nd in 200 free with a 1:49.26, just 0.15 behind winner Gwen Gustafson of BYU... Added ALL-MPSF SECOND TEAM as anchor in 3rd-place 400 free relay (3:25.48)... Led off 200 medley relay and anchored 800 free relay, each of which finished 4th... Also placed 9th in 200 back (2:03.70) for team-leading 46 individual points at conference championships, not counting relay contributions... Incredibly, competed at MPSF meet despite an injury that had her in a wheelchair when not swimming... Added dual meet wins in 100 free (51.61), 200 free (1:49.25) and 500 free (4:58.23) at Fresno State on Feb. 5.
2019-20: Competed in two meets in 2019-20...Finished second in the 200 free in season-best 1:54.42 on first day of meet against Cal State Eastbay, Pepperdine and UC San Diego (Nov. 1)...Took fourth in the 200 back in 2:06.51 at the same meet...Other season-best times include: 500 free (5:26.49)... Granted medical hardship year to preserve season of eligbility.
2018-19: ALL-MOUNTAIN PACIFIC SPORTS FEDERATION FIRST TEAM in the 500 free and 200 free… ALL-MOUNTAIN PACIFIC SPORTS FEDERATION SECOND TEAM in the 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, 200 back, and 400 free relay… Finished second in the finals of the 200 free with a career-best time of 1:47.86—the fifth-fastest time in program history—to go along with another second-place finish in the championship final of the 500 free (4:49.06)--the second-fastest time in school history—at MPSF Championships… Earned a second swim in the 200 back, finishing seventh in the finals with a time of 2:00.05--the fifth-fastest time in program history… Helped the Aggies to a runner-up finish in the 400 free relay with a season-best time of 3:21.10… Swam the butterfly legs of the 200 and 400 medley relays, helping the Aggies to a third-place finish and runner-up finish, respectively… Finished fourth in the 100 back at the Miami Invite with the sixth-fastest time by an Aggie in school history (55.51)… Other season-best times include: 50 free (24.01), 100 free (52.15), 1000 free (10:21.61), 100 fly (57.80).
DAVIS SENIOR HS ’18: Four-year varsity letter winner for the Davis Senior HS swimming and diving team… Also competed on the water polo team as a freshman… Helped the Blue Devils to four straight Delta League titles as well as a back to back Sac-Joaquin Seciton titles as a junior and senior… Four-time All-Delta League and All-Sac-Joaquin Section honoree… Four-time state swimmer, claiming titles in the 200 free, 200 medley relay, and 200 free relay… Three-time All American selection… Voted “Most Valuable Player” as a junior… Set school records in the 100 fly, 200 free, 200 free, and 200 IM… Section and state record holder during her senior season… Competed for the Davis Aquamonsters club team from 2006-2018, earning distinction as a team record holder.
PERSONAL: Born in Davis, Calif… Her parents, Pete and Koren Motekaitis, are both UC Davis alums and inductees in the Cal Aggie Athletics Hall of Fame... Koren was a national champion for the Aggies in the early 1990s, Pete was a swimmer/water polo player who later served as the head men's swimming coach.. Has an older brother, Ty, an older sister, Samantha, and a younger sister, Elle (who joined the Aggies in 2020-21)… Something most people don’t know about Mia is she likes to cook.
