Kim rises on final day in the Pacific Northwest

Senior from San Ramon, Calif., finishes in a tie for 28th

PORTLAND, Ore. — Senior Yoonhee Kim shot a team-best final-round 74 on Tuesday morning to jump 10 spots and finish in a tie for 28th, leading the efforts of the UC Davis women's golf team at the Molly Murphy Crowley Collegiate Invitational at the Waverley Country Club in Portland, Ore.

The Aggies, who improved their scores in each of the three rounds, finished in eighth place as a team, sandwiched between Colorado and Colorado State, finishing five shots ahead of the Rams. Stanford, the leader after round one, ended the day at 7-under as a team to run away with the title, finishing at 4-under for the tournament and besting second-place Oregon (+23) by a wide margin. The Cardinal also swept the top three individual spots, as Andrea Lee finished with a 6-under 210 to take home medalist honors.

Kim saved her best for last in Tuesday's final round, finishing with two birdies on the back nine to finish 1-under there and 2-over for the day in tying her second-lowest single round of the year. Her 54-hole total of 230 was also her best of the season.

Senior Rei Nakatani was the top Aggie in the clubhouse for the third consecutive tournament, finishing in a tie for 22nd with a 12-over 228 to log her third top-25 finish in three starts this season. Her round on Tuesday included an eagle on the par-five fifth — one of nine eagles at the event.

Junior Madison Wood also jumped up two spots on the final leader board to finish in a tie for 36th with a 16-over 232, matching her opening round total with a final-round 76. Senior Christine Danielsson, who finished in a tie for 47th, and freshman Jackie Lucena, who was 52nd, rounded out the UC Davis group.

The Aggies close out the fall portion of their season with a busy week ahead, returning to the Pacific Northwest next week to compete at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational hosted by Washington on Oct. 8-9 at the Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash., then taking a day off before making the short jaunt to the Bay Area to compete at the Stanford Intercollegiate on Oct. 11-13.
