DAVIS, Calif. – ESPNU selected UC Davis' Feb. 9 road matchup at UC Santa Barbara as its Wild Card selection for that weekend, as announced by Big West and network officials on Tuesday.
Also announced was a time change for the start of this league contest since this is now a nationally televised broadcast. Tip-off inside the Thunderdome will now take place at 9 p.m. Sports 1140 KHTK will also provide a live broadcast of this Big West rivalry with Scott Marsh calling the action courtside from Santa Barbara.
The Aggies' return game at UCSB will cap a three-week road swing that begins on Saturday, at Hawai'i (9 p.m. tip), continues on Feb. 2 in an ESPN3 game at UC Riverside, and ends with the team's Central Coast trip to Cal Poly (Feb. 7) and Santa Barbara.
As two of the league's most talented teams, UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara have produced multiple memorable games in recent seasons. When the Aggies visited the Thunderdome last season, they snapped the Gauchos' 11-game home and eight-game overall win streaks, and swept a trip that included a triple-overtime victory at Cal Poly two days prior.
The Aggies won three of the last five head-to-head games versus the Gauchos, and seek a split of this season's series on Feb. 9.
