Game Notes: UC Davis  |  UC Santa Barbara  |  Big West

DAVIS, Calif. – After playing five of its last six games on the road, UC Davis will return to the Pavilion this week for its first set of Big West home games, beginning Thursday night against UC Santa Barbara.

A video stream of this league matchup is available on BigWest.TV, as is a broadcast on Sports 1140 KHTK. In addition to video and internet audio links, live stats and in-game Twitter updates links are available at UCDavisAggies.com.

Thursday's contest will feature two of the BWC's top two teams, with regards to ball protection this season. The Gauchos' +0.1 turnover margin is the league's top mark; right behind them with an even +0.0 figure are the Aggies. And if previous matchups offer any indication, protecting the ball and minimizing turnovers are two key factors that will help determine a winner in UC Davis' league home opener.

Even though UC Santa Barbara won last year's matchup on Hamilton Court, UC Davis bounced back 11 days later by defeating the Gauchos 71-54 on their home floor.

Including that road result, UC Davis won three of its last four games versus UCSB.

Of UCSB's three losses suffered this season, each one of them took place on the road. After playing their last five games inside the Thunderdome, the Gauchos will compete in their first road game in a month when they visit the Pavilion.

As one of three Big West players with top-10 rankings in scoring (14.9  ppg), assists (3.8 apg) and steals (1.6 spg), Aggie guard TJ Shorts II leads a team that will enter Hamilton Court with the highest home win percentage (.807) of any mainland Big West team since the 2014-15 campaign.

The Aggies remember last year's home game against the Gauchos, since that was the one that ended their 19-game home win streak. That was a rare loss suffered by the Aggies, a team that only dropped 11 games throughout that timespan — the fewest of any Big West team.

UC Davis' homestand will conclude on Saturday with a 5 p.m. contest, on Alumni Day, against Cal Poly.

Series Record: UC Davis trails 29-10
Last UC Davis Win: 2/17/18 - A, 71-54
Last UC Santa Barbara Win: 2/8/18 - H, 90-81
Series Streak: UC Davis +1
