SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The UC Davis men's tennis team started the match off strong against Sacramento State by sealing the doubles point early on with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 position; however, the Aggies eventually fell to a close 4-3 final score against the host school at the Sacramento State Courts on Wednesday afternoon.

The Aggies carried the 1-0 advantage going into singles play, thanks to the first doubles win by tandem David Goulak and Tommy Lam over the Hornets' Donald Hall and Dom Miller, 6-2, at the No. 2 position, followed by their second win from partners Chethan Swanson and Arjith Jayaraman after facing Louis Chabut and Hermont Legaspi at the No. 3 spot.

The home team temporarily tied the dual score 1-1 after garnering the first singles match win of the day at the No. 2 position; however, freshman Ivan Thamma pushed through to give UC Davis the lead once again by scoring a straight-set win at the No. 1 position over Sacramento State's Mikus Losbergs, 6-2, 6-3.

Unfortunately, the Hornet powerhouse responded with back-to-back wins to steal the lead from the visiting team, but freshman Chethan Swanson brought the match to a tied 3-3 score after his three-set win over Bernardo Moraes at the No. 6 position. Eventually, it was the home team that won both the last unfinished singles match the dual win at a final 4-3 score.

The UC Davis men's tennis team quickly returns to action on Friday afternoon as they head down to Santa Barbara, Calif., to play against Big West School UC Santa Barbara for their first of two conference matches this week.
