DAVIS, Calif. -- UC Davis freshman Arjith Jayaraman scored a singles victory for his team at the No. 5 position to highlight the Aggie action that took place at the Marya Welch Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon; however, the home team left the courts with a tough 6-1 loss against Brown's team.
Jayaraman's three-set victory over Aaron Sandberg, 6-4, 6-7, 10-8, was the only Aggie victory over the Bear powerhouse in their dual, as the visiting team went on to clinch both the doubles point and five of the six singles match wins.
The Aggies are now 6-13 overall for the 2018 dual season.
The UC Davis men's tennis team anticipates a busy schedule next week with three upcoming matches. On Wednesday (Apr. 11), the Aggies will make a trip over the Causeway to play Sacramento State's team on their courts, while the second and third matches will take place on the courts of Big West Conference schools UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly on Friday (Apr. 13) and Saturday (Apr. 14), respectively.
