DAVIS, Calif. – Basketball fans and community members will have an opportunity to interact with the defending Big West champion men's and women's teams on a brand-new level during the inaugural UC Davis Basketball Fan Fest. This
free special event will take place inside the Pavilion on Oct. 26, from 6-7 p.m., with a 30-minute autograph session taking place afterwards.
Younger Aggie fans will also have an opportunity to receive exclusive instruction from men's and women's basketball student-athletes at various skill stations, and take advantage of a Kids Zone that will have games and bounce houses available to enjoy.
Since the Basketball Fan Fest is taking place during dinner hours, food and beverages are available for guests to purchase. This event also provides season ticket holders with an opportunity to pick-up their tickets for the upcoming season.
Make sure you collect your raffle tickets once you arrive because giveaways will take place all night long.
It is rare for both Big West basketball champions to hail from the same school, but that is exactly what happened when the men won their third title in the last four seasons, and advanced to postseason play for the third time within that same timespan.
In addition to capturing their second straight league crown, the women finished with the second-most wins in a single season in the program's history, competed in the WNIT for the second year in a row and enjoyed an "Elite Eight" run one year after advancing to the tournament's "Sweet 16."
Both teams will compete in one exhibition game as part of a home basketball doubleheader, scheduled for Nov. 1, when the women welcome Cal State East Bay (5:30 p.m. tip) and the men face Dominican (7:30 p.m.) before opening their seasons the following week.
Men's basketball's will begin its 2018-19 campaign on Nov. 6 when San Francisco visits Hamilton Court in the first of consecutive home games. That home stand will conclude three days later when San Diego (7 p.m.) visits Davis.
The inaugural women's game of the season will take place one day after the men's opener when the Aggies head to Stanford (Nov. 7, 7 p.m.), before hosting Pacific on Nov. 11 in their first home game. Tipoff for that Sunday home opener is scheduled for 2 p.m.
