ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Multi athlete Erinn Beattie and sprinters Jazmen Bunch and Kierra Davis each entered UC Davis' all-time Top 5 lists with their respective performances at the Don Kirby Invitational indoor track & field meet at the Albuquerque Convention Center Friday.
Davis, a freshman from Upland, California, posted a time of 24.46 seconds in the 200-meter dash, second in school history behind only Ashley Marshall's Aggie benchmark of 24.14 from this very meet two years prior. Davis also ran a 7.65 in the 60 meters, improving on her No. 5 rank in program annals.
Bunch, making her Aggie debut after transferring from San Diego State, went 7.63 in the 60. She now ranks fourth in UC Davis history behind Marshall (7.35),
Melanise Chapman (7.52) and teammate
Natsumi McGee (7.58).
Beattie, a sophomore from Ventura who also competed in the 60 hurdles Friday, cleared 1.70 meters, or 5-feet-7. That represents a five-centimeter improvement on her 1.65m from the UNM Classic a week ago, and moves her into a three-way tie for third in Aggie indoor history along with Anita Engelman (2000) and Kalina Freeman (1995).
Senior
Michaela Mundt made another strong showing in the weight throw with her 17.42m (57-2). This fell shy of her 17.66m effort a week earlier, but she remains just one of three Aggies ever to break the 17-meter barrier in the event.
The Don Kirby Invitational continues on Saturday.
