DAVIS, Calif. - Senior Tommy Lam, sophomore David Goulak, and freshmen Ivan Thamma, Chethan Swanson, Arjith Jayaraman, and Dariush Jalali all earned singles victories in consolation play to highlight the last day of tournament action in the Aggie Invitational at the Mayra Welch Tennis Center in Davis, Calif.

In the Singles 1 Consolation, Thamma saw a match victory after two close straight-set wins against Santa Clara's Robert Serby, 7-6(5), 7-6(9).

For the Singles 2 Consolation play, sophomore Mitchell Iwahiro got a win over Gonzaga's Emilio Moreno in straight sets, 6-4, 6-4, Lam defeated Serby's teammate Kamran Khan, 5-7, 6-3, 1-0(5), Swanson earned a match victory after winning in straight sets against Gonzaga's Kyle Everly, 7-6(3), 6-3, and Jayaraman contributed to the third match win for the Aggies in this flight when he defeated Nikita Demir from Stanford, 6-7(4), 6-3, 1-0(6).

Looking at the Singles 3 Consolation, UC Davis garnered two match wins, one being from Goulak, who won in straight sets against Santa Clara's Andrew Gu, 6-4, 6-4, while the other came from Jalali when he defeated Gu's teammate Matthew Perkins in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. The third Aggie player competing in this flight was Star, who tied up with Sacramento State's Mikus Losbergs after the second set, but ended up losing claims to the match victory in their final set, 6-3, 3-6, 1-0(4).

Senior Everett Maltby, who qualified to the semifinals in the singles Flight "A" main draw, reached an end his tournament when the No. 2 seeded player Paul Barretto from Cal took the crown in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0.

The UC Davis men's tennis team gets a two-week break from tournament play before returning back to the courts to compete at the ITA Northwest Regionals in Stockton, Calif., starting on Oct. 19.
