Oct. 6, 2016 RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Sophomore utility Sasa Antunovic scored four goals while junior goalkeeper Spencer Creed posted eight saves and nine steals to boost No. 11 UC Davis to a 10-4 win over No. 15 Cal Baptist in Western Water Polo Association men's action at Lancer Aquatic Center Thursday evening.
The Aggies improve to 12-3 overall and remain unbeaten in conference play at 2-0. The Lancers slip to 8-7 for the year and open their WWPA season at 0-1. Antunovic scored one goal in each quarter to help UC Davis lead wire to wire. Six other Aggies scored one goal each: senior captain

Cory Laidig. Creed's nine steals crushed his previous best of six, set less than a week ago at Santa Clara. Four CBU players scored one goal each: senior Teddy Forte, junior Jonathan Lotero, junior Luke Schuler, and senior Brent Teraoka. Senior goalkeeper Joseph Moorman protected the Lancer cage with nine saves plus two thefts. UC Davis scored three unanswered in the first quarter, with May scoring from set to open the game,
Sasa Antunovic burying a perimeter bomb with 1:17 left, then Martel competing a steal-and-counter in the final seconds. Creed also managed two saves and a steal to keep the Lancers off the board in the opener. The Aggies then extended their start to six straight through the midway point of the second quarter, with Hanley, Antunovic and Goldschmidt connecting. CBU finally broke its scoreless spell with Forte's back-handed skip shot with 81 ticks left in the frame. UC Davis went to the break with that 6-1 lead. Antunovic completed his hat trick roughly two minutes into the third quarter, but UC Davis missed on its next six shots while the Lancers scored three straight to cut the margin to 7-4 by the end of the period. Lotero and Gunya both scored from two meters while Teraoka's goal from the one spot made it three straight at the 1:17 mark. Creed locked down the Aggie cage in the fourth, aggressively attacking any Lancer attempts to find their two-meter man. He came up with two steals to start the fourth, then UC Davis ended its drought with
Marcus Anderson's goal at the 5:04 mark. Antunovic scored his fourth goal on a lob with under three minutes left, then Laidig completed a counterattack in the final minute to set the board to its final state of 10-4. Thursday's victory marks the 11th straight regular-season conference win for UC Davis. The Aggies won their last three in 2014, then went undefeated at 6-0 last season. UC Davis returns to action against two-time defending NCAA champions UCLA on Sunday. Game time is noon at Schaal Aquatics Center.
