DAVIS, Calif. - The final youth soccer camp organized by the Davis Soccer Academy, set for August 10-11, will offer a unique twist for all participants. Since a percentage of proceeds collected will support the Aggies' director of operations position, this camp, which is open to any and all girls ages 5-13, will also provide an opportunity for campers to witness a training session that features UC Davis' women's soccer team.

This event will take place at UC Davis' main campus on Aggie Soccer Field; parking is available at Lot 25. (Click here to download a printer-friendly campus map; the field and parking lot are located in section V-2.)

Each day, campers will learn basic techniques, and develop their skills, through individual and group instruction, drills, games and scrimmages in addition to an exclusive opportunity to interact, and witness a college soccer training event.

"Attending camps and watching college games helped me understand what it took to be a Division I college soccer player. It's hard to know what's it's like until you are in the same environment as the players and watching how the college game is played," said UC Davis senior defender Lindsey O'Tousa.

"My parents took me to both men's and women's college soccer games when I was 10 years old, it was then where I decided that soccer was the only sport I wanted to play," added senior forward Haley Hughes, O'Tousa's teammate. "I became more and more passionate with each game I watched; watching the women play lit a fire, ignited my competitive nature and made me want to be just like them, or even better.

"I owe it to my parents for taking me to all of those games, developing my passion for the game and helping me become a Division I soccer player."

Campers will be grouped by age, ability and will receive instruction from staff and players who are volunteering their time to support this camp and fundraiser.
