DAVIS, Calif. - Sophomore forward Agustina Singh will participate in this year's Young Women's National Championship as announced by USA Field Hockey. This event serves as a high-level, international-structured competition and the selection venue for the 2015-16 U.S. Women's Under-21 National Team.

"I'm really excited about this opportunity, it has been a childhood dream of mine to earn a spot on a national team," said Singh.

This showcase of the nation's top field hockey talent will take place in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, at the Spooky Nook Sports Complex from June 22-26.

"I am going to give 100 percent and leave everything on the field," Singh added.

This is Singh's second appearance at the Young Women's National Championship; the San Jose, California, native competed at the Junior National Camp when she attended Archbishop Mitty High School, and was one of 33 players who vied for 20 spots on the USA Field Hockey's U-17 roster.

"That was a great opportunity for me; I now know what to expect when I compete at this year's event.

"The mental aspect of my game has grown since then. I now know what works for me when playing at such a high level, and feel comfortable competing under such scrutiny," added Singh.

Ranked No. 45 in the county last season by averaging 0.44 assists per game, Singh received all-conference honors for the first time as an Aggie after finishing her sophomore campaign with a team-high eight assists and four goals. In addition to posting the second-highest number of points (16), shots (46) and shots on goal (28) among all UC Davis players, Singh also posted three top 10 totals among all league players.

Able to singlehandedly alter opposing coaches' game plans due to her outstanding skill set, Singh is just as successful off the turf after collecting her second Division I National Academic Squad awards in as many seasons.

In addition to prepping for next week's slate of finals, Singh will adjust her her off-season training regimen accordingly to help her prepare for the National Championship.

Said Singh regarding this phenomenal opportunity, "I am ready to chase my dreams."

Singh, and her field hockey teammates, will open the 2015 season on Aug. 29 with a neutral-site contest against Syracuse, last year's national runner-up. UC Davis will then return to Aggie Field Hockey Facility two days later to compete in its home opener against Bryant - the first of a season-long four-match homestand and one of nine events that will take place on the Aggies' home turf throughout the upcoming season.
