STANFORD, Calif. - UC Davis throwers enjoyed big days at Stanford's Payton Jordan Invitational on Saturday as Veronica Smart, Michaela Mundt and Breanna Standifer  each posted career-best performances for the Aggie women's track and field team.

The trio came through with impressive efforts less than a day after competing at the Causeway Dual against rival Sacramento State at Woody Wilson Track. For Smart and Mundt, they surpassed PRs they either set or equaled on Friday.

Raquel Lambdin was the lone Aggie on the track and she came through with her third win of the weekend, finishing first in her section of the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 5.65 seconds, the second-fastest time in her career.

Smart went over the 50-foot mark in the shot put for the second time this weekend, winning the event at Stanford with a mark of 50 feet, 9.50 inches. That beat her second-place effort from Friday of 50-6.25. Mundt tied her PR of 181-5 while winning the hammer throw against the Hornets before surpassing that on Saturday with a mark of 185-7.

Standifer set her previous PR in the discus at the Brutus Hamilton at Cal last week, going 161-05. She beat that by a half-inch at Stanford, finishing fourth at 162-00.

The Aggies' efforts helped entrench them further on the program's all-time list. Mundt jumped one spot to No. 2 in the hammer, surpassing All-American discus thrower Ashley Hearn who had a PR of 184-3 in 2012. Smart solidified her No. 3 all-time spot while becoming just the third UC Davis thrower ever to surpass 50 feet in the shot put, and Standifer strengthened her No. 4 all-time spot in the discus.

The UC Davis men's team had throwers in three events on Saturday. Seniors Ben Parodi and Brandon Greenberg were third (54-11.25) and fifth (53-3.5), respectively, in the shot put while Matthew Bender led the Aggies with a fourth-place showing (161-11) in the discus. Parodi (182-3) and Bender (175-10)  took seventh and eighth in the hammer throw.

UC Davis will compete in the Big West Multi-Event Championships at UC Riverside next week before taking part in the full championship a week later.
