INDIANAPOLIS - UC Davis senior guard Corey Hawkins was one of 21 student-athletes who were selected to compete at the 2015 Reese's Division I College All-Star Game when the National Association of Basketball Coaches revealed their list of participants on Tuesday. This year's event will take place on Friday, April 3, at Lucas Oil Stadium - the site of this year's NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship.
Friday's game will tip at 1:30 p.m. (PT); CBS will televise the eventon a tape delay Saturday morning at 10 a.m. (PT).Hawkins will wear uniform No. 5.
Both all-star teams are comprised of seniors and were selected by NABC member coaches.
Hawkins, an AP All-American, is the second Aggie to participate in the Reese's College All-Star Game. In 2010, Dominic Calegari was one of 22 student-athletes who competed in the NABC's annual event that showcases the nation's top Division I players.
Coincidentally, Calegari's all-star appearance also took place inside Lucas Oil Stadium.
As a competitor in the State Farm Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championship, the Goodyear, Ariz., native was originally slated to compete in the men's long distance event on Thursday, April 2. With Tuesday's announcement, Hawkins' trip to Indianapolis will now extend through the Final Four weekend.
ESPN will air this year's 3-point event starting at 4 p.m. (PT). No UC Davis player has ever competed in both the slam dunk/3-point and all-star events in the same season.
UC Davis' first-ever Big West Player of the Year led his team to a 25-7 overall record, the program's first-ever Big West championship and inaugural Division I postseason appearance this past season when the Aggies faced the Stanford Cardinal in the National Invitation Tournament.
In addition to receiving Big West Player of the Year and first team league honors earlier this month, Hawkins was also named to the Big West Conference's all-tournament team.
Shortly thereafter, the Goodyear, Ariz., native became the first Aggie in the team's Div. I history to receive All-District IX awards from the U.S. Basketball Writers Association and National Association of Basketball Coaches, and earned additional All-America honors when he was named a finalist for the Lou Henson Award - presented to the top Division I mid-major player in the country.
By finishing his seniorseason with a .488 percentage from distance, Hawkins is the first Aggie in the program's Division I history to collect a national three-point title. In addition to this three-point shooting prowess, healso held the nation's seventh-highest individual scoring average (20.9 ppg) and 26th-highest three-point field goals made per game mark (2.89).
Hawkins' West All-Star teammates include Lawrence Alexander (North Dakota State), Matt Connaughton (Notre Dame), Mikh McKinney (Sacramento State),Le'Bryan Nash (Oklahoma State), Jacob Parker (Stephen F. Austin State), Ralston Turner (North Carolina State), Seth Tuttle (Northern Iowa) and Alan Williams (UC Santa Barbara).
Comprising the East All-Star Team, coached by Nebraska's Tim Miles, are Julius Brown (Toledo), Will Cummings (Temple), Treveon Graham (Virginia Commonwealth),D'Angelo Harrison (St. John's),Darun Hilliard (Villanova),LaDontae Henton (Providence), Tyler Kalinoski (Davidson), Javaughn Pinkston (Villanova),Matt Stainbrook (Xavier), Jarvis Williams (Murray State) and Kameron Woods (Butler).
