STANFORD, Calif. - Matt Seramin capitalized on two birdies to get into red numbers early and ended with a team-best 2-over 72 in the final round of The Goodwin at Stanford on Saturday as the UC Davis men's golf team placed ninth in the 24-team field at Stanford Golf Course.

UC Davis shot a 13-over 293 team score in the final round and finished 5 over for the 54-hole tournament. Eight teams ranked among the top 40 participated in the 24-team event and the Aggies were the second-highest unranked team in the final standings.

Senior Mike Brockington shot 74 on Saturday and tied for 24th overall at par. Patrick Soli, who had a 66 in the first round, ended with a 73 and tied for 33rd at 1 over. Luke Vivolo tied for 46th at 3 over after shooting 74, the same score as freshman Ryan Han who tied for 64th at 5 over. Seramin's final-round 72 left him 7 over and tied him for 73rd.

UAB, ranked 38th, tied for the team title with No. 32 SMU at 23 under. Host Stanford, ranked 17th, was third at 17 under while No. 33 TCU (-16), No. 25 UNLV (-14) and No. 9 Oregon (-14) rounded out the top six. Those were the only teams to finish under par.

The Cardinal's Maverick McNealy tied with Will Cannon of UAB for medalist honors at 13 under.

Seramin was just 2 over in his final two rounds. He covered the front nine at par after opening with a birdie on the par-5 first hole and then adding another on the par-3 third. Seramin had five bogeys before a birdie on the par-3 17th helped him card his 72.

Soli also had a birdie on the first hole and then strung together 12 consecutive pars later. He was just 1 over on the back. Brockington's was 2 over on both the front and back and posted two birdies on his way to a 74. Vivolo's 74 featured a birdie on the par-4 ninth hole, while Han ended his day with eight straight par to also shoot 74.

UC Davis returns to the road for back-to-back tournaments in Arizona next week. They'll play at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational in Tempe on Apr. 3-4 before moving over to Scottsdale for the Wyoming Cowboy Classic on Apr. 6-7.
