Final Stats

DAVIS, Calif. -

Senior attacker Elizabeth Landry had five goals while sophomore Melissa Kellan posted a goal and two assists, but UC Davis was unable to protect a first-half lead, falling by a 12-8 final to Old Dominion in women's collegiate lacrosse action at Aggie Stadium Tuesday afternoon.

The Aggies fall to 1-4 for the year. The Monarchs improve to 6-2.

Junior Courtney Neff added two goals to account for the balance of the UC Davis scoring. The Aggies outshot their guests by a 13-9 margin before the break but managed just four attempts to ODU's 10 in the second half. UC Davis also saw its 10-2 advantage on the draw diminish to 6-3 deficit after halftime.

ODU senior Jessica Liberty scored four goals while junior Ashmore Standing added three. Each also had two assists. Standing drew first blood with her goal in the fourth minute, and Liberty made it 2-0 with her score two minutes later before the Aggies responded with three straight. Kellan assisted Landry on two of the goals in that 3-0 comeback, in addition to scoring one of her own.

The Monarchs briefly regained the lead at 4-3 on a Christina Rea eight-meter attempt in the 15th minute, but Landry equalized on the next trip down, then put the Aggies ahead with an eight-meter in the 23rd. Neff bumped the margin to 6-4 with a drive with 5:00 left in the first half.

However, Old Dominion responded with four unanswered during the next 10 minutes of play. Standing converted a Liberty assist in the final minutes of the first half, then had one of the three goals during the first 5:20 out of the break to put the Monarchs up by an 8-6 edge.

Landry and Neff each scored to tie the game at 8-8 before ODU took over the scoring column with four unanswered. Standing connected with Liberty with two of those goals while freshman Cydney Tuchton hit back-to-back during the Monarch's finish.

Junior Mary Doyle provided another spark on the draw, collecting six of the Aggies' 13 draw controls. Landry had another four plus three ground balls.

UC Davis finishes its four-game home stand with a 1 p.m. tilt vs. Bryant on Saturday.
