DAVIS, Calif. - Senior Samantha Shellem prevailed in two freestyle races plus the 200-yard individual medley, while Hilvy Cheung, Hilary Hunt and Audrey DeNeffe also won two events each, leading UC Davis to a 158-115 victory over Pacific in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation women's swimming and diving dual meet at Schaal Aquatics Center Saturday.

The Aggies improve to 5-2 for the year.

Shellem, who also anchored the winning 200 medley relay in its one minute, 45.20-second performance, claimed victory in the 200 freestyle with a 1:50.89 then dominated the 100 free at 51.73. Both marks are personal 2014-15 bests for a non-championship meet. Shellem closed out her day with a season-best 2:05.83 in the 200 IM.

Cheung, who swam the butterfly leg of the 200 medley relay, took down both races for that stroke. Her 2:02.30 in the 200 fly beat her nearest competitor by four full seconds, while her 55.34 in the 100-yard race gave her the edge on Tiger freshman Kenna Ramey's 56.11. Hunt scored wins in the two backstroke events in addition to her leadoff efforts in the 200 medley relay. She touched home in 56.60 and 2:05.33 in the 100 and 200 back, respectively.

DeNeffe edged teammate Lucy Lafranchise by a 258.15-256.275 margin in the 1-meter diving competition, then compiled a 288.525 on the 3-meter board to close out the meet. That effort on the high board is the team's No. 2 score for the year, trailing only DeNeffe's own Aggie benchmark of 296.85 from November's dual against Nevada.

In fact, DeNeffe, Cheung and Hunt each hold the school records in all of their events won on Saturday.

Sophomore Margaux Verger Gourson won both distance freestyle events for Pacific. Tiger junior Cristina Mardones was the high scorer of the meet, edging Aggie junior Hailey Ferko for the win in the 100 breast (1:05.63), finishing second to UC Davis sophomore Elise Roberts in the 200 breast (2:22.79), then claiming the official points in the 200 IM (2:07.27) after the Aggies declared exhibition scoring after mathematically clinching the team race.

Cal Poly also competed divers Olivia Salvatore-King and Lauren Pierce in the meet. Mustang diving coach Erica Stricker Harrell was an Aggie standout from 2008-11.

UC Davis honored 11 seniors who competed in their final home meets: Hunt, Shellem, Marilyn Carey, Lauren Damian, Megan Leung, Sarah Luibel, Ali Paris, Sam Rados, Shannon Stewart Silva, Karley Troup and Caroline Weston.

The Aggies return to action at the MPSF Championships on February 18-21, where they will chase their third consecutive team title and their fifth conference crown in the last six years.
