WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - Luke Vivolo finished strong with a 2-under 33 over his final nine holes en route to a second-round 2-under 69 as the UC Davis men's golf team moved into seventh on Monday at the Southwestern Intercollegiate at North Ranch Country Club.

The event is the season-opener for the Aggies who shot 14-over 298 in the opening round before cutting three strokes to shoot 295 in the afternoon. UC Davis is 25 over and tied with Hartford for seventh in the 12-team tournament. Vivolo is tied for seventh on the players' leaderboard at 1-over 143 after shooting 74 in the first round. Matt Seramin is tied for 32nd at 7 over, Nicolas Noya is tied for 45th at 9 over, freshman Ryan Han is 11 over and tied for 49th, and Mike Brockington is tied for 54th at 12 over.

Stanford is 4 over and holds a six-shot lead over Pac-12 Conference rival Washington State (+10). USC (+12), San Diego State (+15) and Pepperdine (+18) round out the top five. The Cardinal's Jim Liu and Maverick McNealy are 4 under and share a two-shot lead with Kevin DeHuff of Pepperdine.

Vivolo started his second round with three bogeys over his first four holes but then birdied the 15th through 16th holes - part of his front nine - to make his turn even. He had four birdies on his back nine to help him play it 2 under.

Seramin had a 77 in the opening round but then rebounded to shoot 72 in the second, playing his first nine holes even and then picking up eight pars on the back. Noya had 78 in the afternoon but was strong in the morning with a 73. He had two birdies in the first round and was 1 under over a nine-hole stretch.

Han was 4 over after his first nine collegiate holes but then turned it around by collecting four birdies on his way to a 1-under 34 on his back nine, finishing with a 74. He carded a 79 in the second round. Brockington shot 78 in the morning and got off to a strong start in the second by shooting 1-under 35 over his first nine holes of the afternoon. He eventually came in with a 76.

UC Davis will start the final round on Tuesday at 8 a.m. and will play with Hartford and Arizona.
