EUGENE, Ore. - Raquel Lambdin finished 12th in her semifinal heat of the women's 1,500-meter run at the NCAA Track and Field Championships at the University of Oregon on Thursday, bringing to a close a season which saw her capture her second straight individual Big West Championship.

Lambdin, a junior from Camarillo, Calif., was timed in 4 minutes, 30.55 seconds. She was 22nd overall. The top five finishers from each of the two semis plus the next two fastest runners overall advanced to Saturday's national championship race. Emily Lipari of Villanova won Lambdin's race in 4:21.14.

Lambdin was making her first appearance at the NCAA Finals after advancing from the NCAA West Region Prelim Meet two weeks ago at the University of Arkansas on the heels of a strong finish that netted her fifth-place in her quarterfinal heat and an automatic berth to nationals.

She also picked up a PR of 4:20.98 with her outstanding regional finish, moving to No. 2 on the Aggies' all-time charts. Lambdin enjoyed an impressive season for UC Davis, successfully defending her 2013 Big West title in the 1,500 in front of the home fans at Woody Wilson Track in May. She also finished second in the 800.

Lambdin had a career-best time of 2:06.47 in the 800 - the best on the team this season which put her second all-time at UC Davis as well - while winning the event at the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays this season.

She was the second of two Aggies to compete at Hayward Field this week, joining sprinter Ashley Marshall who placed 21st in the 100 on Wednesday. Both Lambdin and Marshall will earn All-American honorable mention accolades for their performances.

Both Aggies were instrumental in UC Davis capturing its third straight Big West Championship.
