EUGENE, Ore. - UC Davis' Ashley Marshall saw her standout junior season - which included a pair of Big West championships - come to an end on Wednesday during the women's 100-meter dash semifinals at the NCAA Div. I Track and Field Championships at Hayward Field.

Marshall, from Moreno Valley, Calif., finished eighth in her heat and 21st overall with a time of 11.51 seconds. The top two finishers from each of the three heats, as well as the next two fastest times, advanced to Friday's final.

Marshall raced in lane 8, nearest the stands of historic Hayward Field at the University of Oregon. Three competitors from her race - winner Jenna Prandini of Oregon (11.11), and Olivia Ekpone (11.12) and Jennifer Madu (11.23) of Texas A&M - qualified for the final.

Marshall was making her second straight appearance in the 100 at the NCAA Finals. She was 18th during last year's semifinals.

Wednesday race brings Marshall's outstanding 2014 season to a close. It was highlighted by her successfully defending her Big West titles in both the 100 and 200 and by her winning conference women's track athlete of the year honors for the second consecutive season. She was named the league's track athlete of the week four times.

Marshall was also named the Dr. Hubert Heitman Award winner last week as UC Davis' top female athlete.

Raquel Lambdin is the only other Aggie at the NCAA Finals. She'll race in the 1,500 semis on Thursday afternoon.
