SACRAMENTO, Calif. - UC Davis freshman Hannah Kirkegaard won the 5,000-meter run at the Mondo Mid-Major Classic at Sacramento State on Friday night as the Aggies opened action on another busy track and field weekend.
The Aggies have nearly 30 competitors competing at the Mondo Mid-Major with a large contingent also in Arizona getting ready for the Sun Angel Classic at Arizona State on Saturday. The Sun Angel had limited action on Friday. Ben Parodi took sixth in the men's hammer throw while Veronica Smart was eighth in the women's.
Kirkegaard was hand-timed in 17 minutes, 25.8 seconds, winning the race by nearly 30 seconds over Julianne Jacques of Fresno State (17.55.3).
