SCOUTING HAWAI'I
Hawai`i knocked off UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton on the mainland last week to wrap up its third and fourth consecutive conference road wins. That's a feat that no other Rainbow Warrior squad had accomplished in nearly 35 years of play as members of the Western Athletic Conference or Big West.
For the third time this season-all in Big West play-all five Rainbow Warrior starters scored in double figures. The latest occurrence came in Saturday's 83-80 win at Cal State Fullerton, as Isaac Fotu led the way with 24 points. UH has won all three games in which the entire starting lineup hits double digits. Also taking place that same evening at Fullerton, UH canned a season-best .923 percent (24 of 26) at the free throw line, including a 10-for-10 showing by Fotu. Hawai'i made 15 straight freebies at one point in the second half to secure the win.
UH is two wins away from notching its first 20-win season since going 21-12 in 2003-04.

HAWKINS FEELS GRAND
Against Cal State Northridge, junior guard Corey Hawkins reached the 1,000 career point milestone, and helped the Aggies record a four-point overtime victory, thanks to his 27-point performance. As a freshman at Arizona State, Hawkins recorded 49 points before transferring to UC Davis; in his first season as an Aggie, he set a new school record by scoring 569 points-the most ever recorded by a UC Davis sophomore-and enters Thursday's game with 376 to his credit this year.
HOW DID HE SCORE 1,000 AGAIN?
Successful in recording his 1,000th career point versus Cal State Northridge (2/6), little time passed before junior guard Corey Hawkins scored his 1,000th point as an Aggie, at Cal State Fullerton (2/13). Fouled just seconds before halftime, he made his layup and following free throw to his the 1,000-point mark, on the dot, before the break.
Last season, Hawkins scored 569 points, the most ever recorded by an Aggie as a sophomore; he enters Saturday's game with 403 points scored this season.
Hawkins is the second Aggie to cross the 1,000-point threshold this season, joining senior guard Ryan Sypkens who reached this milestone in last November's Causeway Cup battle.
A PERFECT 300
Throughout the Big West Conference's 45-year history, only three players have scored 300 or more field goals from three. This list includes:
Adam Jacobsen (Pacific, 1993-98): 311 3FGM
Mike Wozniak (Cal Poly, 1996-2000): 308
Bobby Brown (Cal State Fullerton, 2003-07): 307
If Ryan Sypkens cans another shot from behind the arc, the senior guard will join an elite list of conference sharpshooters.
CLIMBING THE LEAGUE'S THREE-POINT LADDER
Including his two treys-against Cal State Fullerton last Thursday, senior Ryan Sypkens continued his ascent up the Big West career chart. Now ranked No. 4 with 299 career treys, the senior guard needs nine buckets from distance to jump past Cal State Fullerton's Bobby Brown (307 3FGM; 2003-07) into the No. 3 spot.
WHO'S NEXT?
By finishing with 15 points against Cal State Fullerton (1/18), Ryan Sypkens climbed another position and is now No. 14th all-time in scoring in the program's 100- plus year history. Fowzi Abdelsamad (2000-05) and his career total of 1,235 points is the next Aggie within Sypkens' sights as the senior guard enters the Aggies' next game, versus UC Irvine, with 1,220 career points.
SHARING MEANS CARING
Redshirt freshman guard Darius Graham and junior guard Corey Hawkins have not been shy in sharing the ball this season as the two lead the team in assists. Graham, who has 80, and Hawkins, with 71, have earned just under half of their team's assists this season (.485 percent).
DON'T BLINK
If other Big West players are not aware of junior guard Corey Hawkins and junior forward Avery Johnson's quick hands, they certainly will be after facing the Aggies since the pair lead the team with 35 and 30 steals. Hawkins and Johnson's combined effort is just shy of the collective total of their other 10 teammates.
