CLOVIS, Calif. - Sophomore Cara Silvas placed second in the 500-yard freestyle, sophomore Ali Paris finished third in both the 200-yard butterfly and the 400-yard individual medley, and UC Davis posted two top-four teams in the 800 free relay to lead Aggie action at the Juanita Allington Memorial Senior Meet, hosted by Clovis Swim Club at the Clovis North Aquatics Complex.

Silvas broke the the five-minute barrier in the 500 free for the first time this season. She touched home in 4:59.37 during Friday's prelim before placing second in the championship final at 4:59.41. Silvas also cut nine seconds from her previous season best in the 1,000 free, finishing fifth at 10:19.83 in Thursday's session.

Paris enjoyed the second-highest Aggie finish in Friday's portion of the meet, placing third in the 200 fly with a time of two minutes, 6.27 seconds. Her 2:06.25 in the prelim heat marked a substantial improvement over her previous career best of 2:08.92. Paris then went 4:30.46 in the 400 IM prelim and 4:30.56 in that event final.

The 800 free relay team of Megan Leung, Silvas, Sarah Winters and Joann Liang went 7:44.31 to place second to the Marin Pirates SC. The UC Davis `B' squad of Jessica Nicholson, Cora Stebbins, Paris and Sarah Luibel compiled a 7:53.24 clocking for fourth place.

Joann Liang posted a top-five finish for UC Davis in the 200 back with her 2:06.58, just off her season-best 2:06.49 in the prelim heat. Sophomore Caroline Weston matched Liang's fifth in the 200 breaststroke on Saturday, hitting a personal record of 2:21.50 in the final. That moves the Emory University transfer into 10th in Aggie history.

The UC Davis contingent at the Allington meet consists of those who did not compete at last weekend's Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships, where the Aggies upset Hawai'i and Brigham Young for the team championship.

The Clovis meet concludes on Sunday with the 100 butterfly, 100 back, 100 breast, 200 IM, 400 medley relay and 1,650 free.
