DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis standouts Samantha Kearney, Alycia Cridebring and Brock Bennett each received distinction on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic teams for achievements in both the classroom and on the track, it was announced this week.
The Aggie trio earned distinction on the teams which honored track and field student-athletes who have compiled grade point averages of at least 3.25 and who participated in any round of the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Kearney is a senior exercise biology major from San Leandro who advanced to the NCAA West Prelims in the 3,000-meter steeplechase where she had a career-best time of 10 minutes, 37.62 seconds. She was fifth in the event at the Big West Championships.
Cridebring is a sophomore from Pleasant Hill who has yet to declare a major. She made her first season with the Aggies a memorable one, posting the team's fastest time in the 1,500 when she crossed in 4:27.71 at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational at Cal in April. Cridebring went on to finish third at the conference championships and later ran in the regional meet.
Bennett is a senior majoring in exercise biology who surpassed the 200-foot mark four times in the javelin this season. He was second in the Big West with a career-best effort of 205-0 and won the event at the Aggie Open. Bennett also qualified for the NCAA West Prelim meet.
