PROVO, Utah - UC Davis freshman Matt Hansen finished at 9-under 207, tying a season-low with a 68 in the final round, and was only two strokes off the tournament winner as he took third place overall at the PING Cougar Classic at the Riverside Country Club in Provo.

Austin Graham placed tenth overall to help lead the UC Davis men's golf team to a fourth-place finish. The Aggies improved steadily throughout the event, taking three strokes off each round's score to finish at 6-under.

Colorado State won the team title, finishing at 17-under, which was four strokes ahead of 39th-ranked UNLV which was second at 13-under.

The third-place finish is the highest for Hansen since tying for tenth at the Kikkor Golf Husky Invitational Sept. 20-21, 2010.

He opened his front nine with a birdie on the par-4 tenth hole, shot par on back-to-back holes, then picked up consecutive birdies on the par-5 13th and par-4 14th holes to move to 3-under. A bogey on the 16th hole pushed him back to 2-under, but he shot two additional birdies on his back nine to finish at 4-under for the round.

Graham finished even for the day as his third round featured 14 pars, including six straight to finish off his back nine, and two birdies as he finished the tournament at 2-under. It marked the second straight tournament in which Graham placed in the top-10.

Tyler Raber tied for 29th at 2-over, taking two strokes off his second round score to finish with a 71 in the final round. Andrew Haggen finished at 6-over, improving on his second round score by four strokes, and Daniel Covrig was 8-over to help UC Davis.

BYU's Zac Blair earned medalist honors, finishing at 11-under.
