PROVO, Utah - Matt Hansen shot 5-under for the day and is in third place, only four strokes off the lead, as the UC Davis men's golf team is tied for fourth overall after two rounds at the PING Cougar Classic in Provo, Utah.
UC Davis and Washington State are tied for fourth at 1-under and are only three strokes behind Pacific and Colorado State, which are tied for second at 4-under. UNLV leads after shooting an impressive 11-under as a team.
Hansen remained steady throughout the first two rounds at the par 71 Riverside Country Club. He shot three under through his first 18 holes which featured five birdies, then carded four birdies during the second round en route to a 2-under 70.
Austin Graham is tied for 11th at 2-under. The senior remained even after the first round, shooting 12 pars to go with three birdies, then improved to 2-under after his second round of 18. Graham had six birdies, including four on his front nine.
Tyler Raber and Daniel Covrig are tied for 40th at 3-over while Andrew Haggen is tied for 59th at 6-over to round out the Aggie contingent.
The opening round was delayed nearly two hours due to frost on the course and as a result, the final round on Saturday will begin 30 minutes later than originally scheduled with a 7:22 a.m. (Pacific) shotgun start.
UC Davis will be paired with Washington State and Idaho.
