DAVIS, Calif. - Mustafa Chopan, a junior on the UC Davis men's soccer team, has been selected to the Capital One Academic All-District VIII Team, it was announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Friday.

Chopan carries a 3.96 grade point average and is majoring in neurobiology, physiology and behavior. The selection marks the second of his UC Davis career.

He has been selected to the UC Davis Dean's List for eight consecutive quarters, achieving a 4.00 GPA in seven quarters. He is a member of two on-campus honors societies and has twice been named to the Big West Conference All-Academic Team.

On the soccer field, Chopan has appeared in all but two games for the Aggies as a central defender and midfielder and has started 13 matches. He assisted on the game-winning goal in UC Davis' 1-0 double overtime victory over Oregon State on Sept. 9.

Chopan will now be placed on a national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
