Aggies Post Solid Second Round At Windon Memorial

GLENVIEW, Ill. - The UC Davis men's golf team cut 10 shots off its first-round score with a 7-over 291 in the second, finishing Sunday's first 36 holes of the Windon Memorial being hosted by Northwestern in 10th place.

The Aggies, who were led by Andrew Haggen's 73 in the morning round and a 1-under 70 from senior Austin Graham in the second, are just one shot behind ninth-place Tennessee (591) and only three shots out of sixth place in the 17-team event.

Michigan (572) assumed the 36-hole lead at North Shore Country Club, posting rounds of 285 and 287 to lead Cal (574) by two shots. Tulsa (578) is third while Ohio State (580) and Northwestern are tied for fourth.

Playing conditions were chilly and windy with temperatures in the high 50's and gusts up to 20 mph.

Graham is tied for 21st at 4-over 146, freshman Matt Hansen is tied for 28th at 5-over, Haggen is tied for 33rd at 6-over, junior Tyler Raber is tied for 52nd at 9-over and sophomore Josh Granger is tied for 70th at 12-over.

Graham, who had a 76 in the first round, played his front nine a shot under par, collecting a pair of birdies, and then pushed his score two 2-under after posting a birdie on the par-4, 1st hole. He had six straight pars to finish his round of 71.

Hansen had two birdies and two bogeys in his par-70 during the afternoon, getting two birdies over his final four holes. He had a 76 in the first round. Haggen, who carded a 75 in the second round, opened his day with a 73 in the first, picking up three birdies over a four-hole stretch of his front nine.

Raber had rounds of 76 and 75, finishing with two birdies during the afternoon. Granger, who had 78 and 76, also had two birdies in the second round.

Lion Kim of Michigan opened with a 69 and then followed with a 71 and is at 2-under 140 and leads three players for medalist honors by two shots..

UC Davis will begin the final round at 6 a.m. (Pacific) on Monday and will be playing with Penn State and Coastal Carolina.
