EUGENE, Ore. - UC Davis senior Polly Gnepa's standout career come to a close on Thursday afternoon when the Big West Conference champion finished seventh during his semifinal heat of the 110-meter high hurdles and did not advance to Saturday's final at the NCAA Division I Track and Field Championships at the University of Oregon.

Gnepa, from Turlock, finished in a wind-aided time of 14.06 seconds. The top two finishers from each of the three heats plus the next two best times qualified for Saturday's final. Lehann Fourie of Nebraska won the heat in 13.53 seconds while Johnny Dutch from South Carolina was second in 13.70. No other competitors from Gnepa's heat advanced.

Gnepa was the first Aggie during its new Division I era to qualify for back-to-back national track championships. He earned his spot in the elite field by finishing 10th at the West Regional at Texas two weeks ago after earlier winning the conference title at Cal State Northridge.

He concludes his career ranked second all-time at UC Davis with a mark of 13.79 seconds.
