MISSION VIEJO, Calif. Andrew Haggen shot a final-round 72 on Tuesday and tied for sixth in the individual standings, pacing the UC Davis men's golf team to a sixth-place finish on the team leaderboard at the Big West Conference Championships at Mission Viejo Country Club.

It was Haggen's career-best finish as an Aggie, surpassing his tie for 14th at the Michigan State Spartan Classic last fall. His even-par round helped him finish the 54-hole event at 5-over 221.

UC Davis, defending Big West champion, shot a 306 team score on Tuesday for a three-round total of 910. The Aggies finished seven shots back of fifth-place Cal State Northridge and one in front of seventh-place UC Riverside.

UC Irvine rolled to a 17-shot win after its final round 297 put the Anteaters at 9-over 873 for the championship. Pacific finished in second while Long Beach State took third at 895. UC Santa Barbara was fourth, 24 shots behind UC Irvine.

Haggen had six birdies, including four on the front nine where he also had a bogey and two double-bogeys to make the turn one over. He was one under on the back nine, capitalizing on two birdies and six pars.

Sophomore Tim Honeycutt carded four birdies on his way to a 77 and tied for 26th at 14-over. Tyler Raber shot 78 to end at 16-over while senior Brent Booth finished with an 80 and also tied for 28th. Freshman Geoff Hunt carded a 79 and tied for 30th at 17-over.

UC Davis played the tournament without standout Austin Graham who missed because of health reasons.

UC Irvine's John Chin won medalist honors at the Big West Championship for the second time in his career, shooting 71 on Tuesday to post a nine-shot win at 7-under 209.

Team and individual berths to the NCAA Regional will be announced next week.
