Final Stats

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Senior midfielder Britt Farquharson scored a team-best four goals - all in a 15-goal outburst in the second half - to lift UC Davis to an 18-12 win over Manhattan College in a non-conference women's collegiate lacrosse game at Gaelic Park Monday morning.

The Aggies improve to 4-1 for the season. The Jaspers fall to 1-3.

Farquharson's scoring output helped UC Davis erase a 5-3 halftime deficit. Freshman Anna Geissbuhler added three goals and two assists, while veterans Christina Corsa, Molly Peterson and Gina Hoffmire contributed two goals each. Sophomore Vanessa Jamison collected six ground balls and won two draw controls, while Peterson and freshman Hannah Mirza each posted three draw controls. Peterson also tallied five steals for the game.

Geissbuhler was the first to score, converting an eight-meter attempt in the first minute of the game. But Manhattan answered with five of the next six goals, including two by junior Phelicia VanOverbeke, to craft a 5-2 lead through 27 minutes of play. Geissbuhler hit her second goal with just under a minute in the first half to bring the score to 5-3 at the break.

Corsa and Geissbuhler scored in the 32nd minute of the game to tie the contest at 5-5, but the Jaspers quickly countered with back-to-back goals to claim a 7-5 lead just five minutes into the second half. However, that proved to be Manhattan's last offensive output for the next 12 minutes as UC Davis scored seven unanswered. Farquharson netted two goals to ignite that run, then Peterson hit an eight-meter shot to lift the Aggies to a 10-7 lead with 13:45 to go. Jamison won the ensuing draw, setting up a Geissbuhler-to-Farquharson goal with 13:32 remaining. Then Corsa won the subsequent draw to set the stage for Peterson's second goal at the 13:06 mark.

Sophomore Chrissy Gutenberger hit two quick goals to cut the Aggie lead to 12-9, but Manhattan never approached any closer. UC Davis responded with four straight to bump its lead back to seven with 8:11 on the game clock.

The Aggies outshot their host by a 33-18 margin, hitting 5 of 7 on eight-meter attempts.

UC Davis returns home for a non-conference tilt with Detroit on Saturday before breaking for final examinations.
