WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - - Sparked by a 3-under 68 on Tuesday, junior Austin Graham posted his second straight top-10 finish and fifth of the season by tying for eighth at the USC Collegiate Invitational and helping the Aggies move up the standings to finish 11th.
Graham, who had his second consecutive round below par, had a three-round total of 3-under 210 on the 6,869-yard North Ranch Country Club course. The Aggies, who didn't have a score over 75 during the final round, had their best round of the tournment, finishing with a 1-over 285 for a 16-over total of 868.
Sixth-ranked Oregon, one of 11 teams ranked in the top 50 participating in the event, blitzed the field for a 16-shot victory. The Ducks had a 9-under 275 on Tuesday, concluding at 21-under 831. Cal, ranked 24th, was second at 5-under while No. 12 Arizona State was third at 3-under.
UC Davis was in 13th entering the day but moved up two spots, finishing in front of two ranked teams - No. 18 Oregon State and No. 29 San Diego State.
Graham had five straight birdies over his sixth through 10th holes, going from 1-over to 4-under. He then had seven consecutive pars before a bogey on the par-4 ninth - his last hole of the day - brought him in with his best round of the tournament.
Tyler Raber tied for 33rd at 3-over after his second straight round at par or better. He had five birdies on Tuesday on his way to a 71. Andrew Haggen, who tied for 43rd at 5-over, had two birdies and 15 pars to help highlight his 72, while junior Tim Honeycutt had three birdies during his round of 74, his second of the tournament. Senior Brent Booth had a 75 after capitalizing on a trio of birdies.
Oregon's Eugene Wong had a 69 in the last round, winning by a shot over T.J. Vogel of USC.
UC Davis is off until competing in the Oregon Duck Invitational on Mar. 22-23.
