Complete Game Notes
DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis men's basketball team will play a pair of non-conference games this week as it takes on Seattle and Boise State on the road. The Aggies face the Redhawks Tuesday night at KeyArena at Seattle Center before facing Boise State Saturday night in Boise as part of the nationwide BracketBusters event. Both games can be heard on KFSG 1690-AM as well as at www.ucdavisaggies.com.
UC Davis (10-14) is coming off a 69-67 loss at UC Irvine on Saturday night as the Anteaters closed the game on a 9-0 run. Four Aggies scored in double figures, including Dominic Calegari and Todd Lowenthal. The two finished with 13 points each. Julian Welch and Ryan Sypkens each scored 12. The Aggies made a season-high 14 three-pointers, including 11 in the first half.
The Aggies continue to play short-handed. Mark Payne, who leads the team in scoring average, has missed the past two games due to illness. Junior Ryan Silva has missed an extended period of time due to a wrist injury. As a result, UC Davis has had just nine players available over the past two games.
Despite the short bench, UC Davis finds itself in a three-way tie for fourth place in the Big West with four conference games remaining. The other eight Big West teams are in action Thursday, making UC Davis the only team not playing a conference game this week.
UC Davis takes on Seattle Tuesday night at 7:10 p.m. The Aggies will be seeking to avenge an 88-78 loss to the Redhawks on Dec. 5 at The Pavilion. It will be just the third time the two teams have met. Seattle enters the game 12-13 overall and is 3-2 against Big West teams this season. The squad is coming off a 98-67 win at home against Sacramento State on Saturday. Seattle has won three straight and five of its past six.
Saturday's game at Boise State is scheduled to begin at 6:05 p.m. Pacific time. The Broncos are 11-14 and host Cal State Bakersfield on Wednesday. It will be the third straight road game for UC Davis, which plays five of its final seven regular season games on the road.
