UC Davis Finishes Fifth At Pacific Invitational

STOCKTON, Calif. -- Austin Graham, Andrew Haggen and Matt Hansen each carded four birdies on their way to respective 2-under 69s on Wednesday as the UC Davis men's golf team finished fifth at the Stockton Sports Commission Pacific Invitational at Brookside Country Club.

UC Davis shot a 4-under 280 team score in the final round, just one shot off yesterday's oustanding effort, finishing in the same position it began the day. Tyler Raber fired a 74 while Tim Honeycutt had a 75 to round out the Aggies' scoring.

Host Pacific was the runaway winner in the 54-hole tournament - the last of the fall for UC Davis - winning by 19 ahots over No. 36 Oregon State and 21 strokes over third-place Fresno State. The Tigers finished at 25-under 827. Charlotte, ranked 39th, was fourth at 1-under 851, just one shot in front of the Aggies (852) who were in turn one in front Marquette (853), Santa Clara and Saint Mary's.

Haggen and Hansen each made their turn to the back nine at 1-under after picking up two birdies and a bogey apiece over their first nine holes. Each of them had another birdie and bogey on the back before finishing with birdies late in theii rounds.

Hansen tied for 16th at 1-over 214 while Haggen tied for 21st at 2-over. Graham finished in a tie for 10th, doing so with a strong back nine in which he had three birdies and six pars. He birdied the par-4, 11th to get back to even and then had another on the par-3, 12th, pushing him to 1-under. Graham capped the round with another birdie on the 16th.

Raber played his front nine event and had his third birdie of the day on the back nine, helping him come in with a 73. Honeycutt highlighted his 74 by playing the front nine just one over. Raber tied for 26th at 3-over 216 while Honeycutt tied for 46th at 9-over.

T.J. Bordeaux of Pacific, who had an amazing 10-under 61 in Tuesday's second round, finished with a 69 to earn a three-shot win at 15-under 198.

UC Davis will return to action in February at the Mauna Lani Invitational in Hawaii.
