LONG BEACH, Calif. - The UC Davis women's swimming team completed the first day of action at the Arena Invitational, hosted by UC San Diego, at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool in Long Beach, Calif.

Bridget Bugbee was UC Davis' top finisher in the 500 freestyle, placing 45th in the prelims of the event with a season-best time of 5:06.28. Karley Troup was 59th with a time of 5:09.85, also a season-best, while Madeline Talt clocked in with a season-best time of 5:13.14.

In the 200 individual medley, Katelyn Griffin finished 65th to lead UC Davis, recording a time of 2:09.28. Lisa Bender clocked in with a time of 2:14.43 and Jessica Nicholson finished in a time of 2:20.40.

Ashley Chandler finished 64th overall in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.29 while Griffin followed with a 69th-place finish in a season-best time of 24.39. Bender's time of 24.70 also registered as a season-best as did Victoria Pichay's time of 25.29. Buffy Ajimura finished with a season-best time of 25.31.

The Arena Invitational continues Friday with the 200 medley relay as well as the 400 individual medley, the 100 butterfly and the 200 freestyle.
