Final Stats
DAVIS, Calif. - Sophomore attacker Bergan Foley scored a game-high eight goals while midfielder Lianne Bobal added four to lead Louisville to a 17-11 win over UC Davis in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Aggie Stadium Saturday.
The Aggies finish their season at 6-12. The Cardinals, among the teams receiving votes in the IWLCA/Under Armour Coaches Poll, end the year at 10-7.
Juniors Molly Lapolla and Britt Farquharson led UC Davis with four goals each. Sophomore Christina Corsa scored a goal with two assists, while defender Molly Peterson earned two draw controls and a game-high six ground balls.
Saturday's game also represented the career finale for Aggie seniors Eri Ichikawa and Patrice Clark. Ichikawa recorded a steal, a ground ball and draw control, while Clark had an assist to Farquharson and won a pair of draws. Additionally, Clark finishes with 88 career goals, seventh in program history.
Louisville stepped out to a 5-1 lead during the first 11 minutes, getting two goals from Bobal and taking advantage of a player-up situation for Foley's score in the ninth minute. Aggie sophomore Gina Hoffmire hit an eight-meter attempt at the 13:18 mark and Farquharson scored in transition at 16:59 to help UC Davis pull to a 6-3 deficit, but Emily Dashiell connected for two goals and Foley had a goal and assist in a 3-0 Card run to stretch the lead to six. Corsa picked up a steal behind the UL cage and delivered an assist to Farquharson to bring the score to 9-4 at halftime.
Peterson converted her eight-meter chance in the opening possession of the second half, and Jacklyn Taylor fed Corsa on a goal at 33:37 to trim the lead back to three, but UC Davis never approached closer than that margin. Foley scored six goals in the second half, including three straight from the 43rd to 47th minutes, to help Louisville pull away with the win.
Dashiell had three goals and Liz Lovejoy added two more to round out the Cardinal scoring. Dashiell also compiled four draw controls, four ground balls and three caused turnovers for the day.
Saturday's game was a relative rarity in that it followed the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation tournament. The Aggies placed fourth at that tournament, helped by a two-goal upset of Denver in the quarterfinals.
