Final Stats

DAVIS, Calif. - Junior midfielder Meghan Lawler scored five goals while Brie Moran and Courtney Miller each added four, leading Colgate to a 20-9 win over UC Davis in non-conference women's collegiate lacrosse action at Aggie Stadium Monday afternoon.

The Aggies slip to 2-6 for the year as they head into their final examinations. The Raiders improve to 6-2 overall.

For UC Davis, sophomore Gina Hoffmire and junior Britt Farquharson each scored three goals, while sophomore Christina Corsa provided two. Junior Molly Lapolla chipped one goal and one assist.

Colgate never trailed in the contest, scoring two goals in the opening two minutes as part of a 7-1 start. The Aggies capitalized on a 12-vs-10 situation midway through the period, first as Farquharson converted an assist from teammate Jacklyn Taylor at the 13:05 mark, then on Lapolla's unassisted goal just 23 seconds later. Hoffmire and Farquharson scored additional goals to cut the deficit to 9-5, but the Aggies never approached any closer.

The Raiders, which outshot their hosts by a 33-21 margin, held an 11-5 edge at the half. Then Moran and Lawler each scored two goals in the early proceedings of the second period, padding the Colgate lead to 16-6. The Raiders held as much as a 20-7 advantage before Corsa added a pair of goals in the final minutes.

Besides her offensive contributions, Farquharson earned ground balls and won four draw controls in the field. She finished the week with 11 goals and two assists in the three-game homestand. Freshman Vannessa Jamison recorded three caused turnovers and three ground balls for the Aggies defensively.

UC Davis returns from final examinations for a three-game Spring Break road trip, starting with Siena on March 23.
