LA QUINTA, Calif. - Daniel Jennevret used four birdies and an eagle to help post a 5-under 67 on Monday in the second round of The Prestige at PGA WEST, taking a four-shot lead among individuals and helping defending champion TCU take a four-shot lead in the team standings heading into Tuesday's final day of competition.
Co-host UC Davis, led by a 1-over 73 from sophomore Tyler Raber, is in seventh place, at 13-over 589. The 13-team tournament, celebrating its 10th year, is being played at the TPC Stadium Course at the world-class resort in La Quinta.
The Horned Frogs fired a 3-under 285 - tied with fourth-ranked Washington for the lowest of the day - and are at 2-under 574 after 36 holes. Co-host and eighth-ranked Stanford shot 296 and is in second place at 2-over 578. First-day leader UCLA had an 11-over 299 and is in third, five shots off the pace. Twelfth-ranked USC (581) and Washington (582) round out the top five.
Raber is tied for 13th at 1-over 145 after opening his round of 73 with a birdie and then ending it with an eagle-2 on the par-4 No. 1. Junior Austin Graham had three birdies on his way to a 74, moving into a tie for 13th with Raber and two other players. Tim Honeycutt shot 78 and is tied for 32nd at 5-over, Andrew Haggen carded a 77 and is tied for 58th at 6-over, and senior Brent Booth is at 9-over and tied for 51st after his round of 79
Jennevret was the only player to shoot in the 60s in each of the first two rounds after opening the tournament on Sunday with a 69. He birdied his first hole on Monday - the par-5 fifth - and then added another four holes later. An eagle on the par-5 16th pushed him to three shots below par while birdies on the first and second holes got him to five in the red which is where he finished. He is at 8-under 136.
Jennevret leads Pedro Figueiredo of UCLA who had a 71 and is tied at 4-under 140 with Sihwan Kim of Stanford, Sunday's co-leader who shot a 72 in the second round. The other first-round leader, Johan de Beer of TCU, playing as an individual, is in fourth place at 3-under 141. Three other players are tied for fifth in the 80-player field.
The co-host Cardinal are also being paced by David Chung, whose second consecutive round of 71 has him tied for fifth at 2-under, and by Jordan Cox who is tied for 17th after a 74 put him at 2-over. Steve Ziegler and Andrew Yun each shot 79 and are tied for 38th and 46th, respectively.
Washington used its strong day to vault up the leader board, helping to round out four top-30 ranked teams among the top five positions. Five teams behind TCU are within nine shots of the lead going into Tuesday's final round.
Teams will conclude the tournament with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
