BREMERTON, Wash. -- Senior Nate Pistacchio had a 2-under 70 while sophomore Austin Graham and senior Ramie Sprinkling each had 74's to help UC Davis post the fourth-best team score of the day and finish ninth on Tuesday at the Husky Invitational, hosted by the University of Washington.
UC Davis, which was in 11th at 30 over par after the first day, had a team score of 5-over 293 on Tuesday to move up two spots in the final standings. The 25th-ranked Aggies ended the 54-hole event at 35-over 899. Their Tuesday score was bettered only by BYU (283), Washington State (290) and Washington (292).
The host Huskies were the only team to finish below par for the two-day tournament, posting a 7-under 857 and rolling to a 13-shot victory over California. San Diego State was third at 15 over while BYU's strong round propelled it from a tie for eighth to fourth.
Graham, who had a 71 in the second round, was 5 over for the tournament, tying for 14th. His Tuesday round of 74 featured three birdies and 12 pars. Pistacchio made the biggest jump for the Aggies, rebounding from a pair of 79's on Monday to shoot the team's low round of the tournament with his 2-under on Tuesday. He made his turn even before birdies on the par-3 5th and the par-5 6th helped him to his 70 and a tie for 41st.
Sprinkling had four birdies on his way to a 74 in the final round, tying with Pistacchio for 41st place at 12 over. Brent Booth and Tyler Raber each tied for 50th at 13 over following their respective scores of 75 and 78.
Chris Kilmer of Washington concluded at 5 under to win by three strokes over Johan Carlsson of San Diego State.
The Aggies return to the road for the Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic on Monday and Tuesday at Notre Dame.
