UC Davis Completes Competition At Regional Meet

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. -- Freshman Ray Green finished 12th in the triple jump while Matt Swarbrick was 14th in the discus throw as UC Davis completed competition on Saturday at the NCAA Division I West Region Track and Field Championships at Cal State Northridge.

Green went 47 feet, 5.25 inches on his second attempt on Saturday afternoon but did not advance to the finals of the event while Swarbrick's best effort of 174-08 also came on his second try but did qualify him for the event finals. The top five finishers in each event automatically qualified for the Division I Championships in two weeks at Des Moines, Iowa.

Ryan Grinnell of Boise State finished first in the triple jump at 52-06.50 while Martin Maric of Cal captured the discus with a throw of 196-00.

UC Davis qualified eight individuals for its first-ever trip to the regional meet. None qualified for the national finals bringing to a close the Aggies' first-ever Division I season. UC Davis set four school records this season, including three by Aggie women.
