CINCINNATI, Ohio - Katie McGovern scored the game-winner with less than seven seconds remaining to lift UC Davis to a 12-11 win over Cincinnati in a non-conference collegiate women's lacrosse game at Nippert Stadium Saturday.

The Aggies improve to 5-8 for the year. The Bearcats fall to 2-11.

McGovern's goal, her fourth of the game, capped a back-and-forth battle between the two teams during the last 10 minutes of play. McGovern and fellow team co-captain Katie McMahon each had posted two goals in a 4-0 second-half run that hoisted UC Davis from an 8-5 deficit to a 9-8 lead. However, Cincinnati freshman Stephanie Cox scored the equalizer at the 50:53 mark to knot the game at 9-9.

Each team proceed to trade goals down the stretch, with Bearcat junior Lindsey Marshall hitting an eight-meter attempt with 2:05 left, tying the game for the fifth overall time at 11-11.

Cincinnati won the subsequent draw and Marshall attempted to score a go-ahead goal but Aggie senior Hilary Harkins was there for her season-high 14th save. The Aggies cleared the ball with one minute on the clock, setting the stage for McGovern's heroics.

McGovern also had one assist, two steals and two draw controls to go with her four goals. McMahon also had four goals, as did Marshall for the Bearcats. Aggie freshman Jacklyn Taylor posted a goal and assist in the winning effort.

UC Davis continues its road trip in a non-conference game at Louisville on Monday.
