RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. - Nate Pistacchio shot a final-roud 73 on Tuesday and finished in a tie for 17th while freshman Austin Graham also had a 73 as the UC Davis men's golf team placed seventh at the Callaway Golf Invitational, hosted by the University of San Diego at The Farms Golf Club.
UC Davis shot a 298 team score over the final 18 holes, finishing the 54-hole event at 28-over 892. The Aggies opened the event with consecutive rounds of 297 during Monday's 36 holes. Wichita State had a 5-under 283 in the last round, concluding the event at 853 and winning by eight strokes over host San Diego.
Pistacchio jumped two places in the final standings for UC Davis with his 1-over round on Tuesday, tying for 17thg with Andres Cuenca of Western Carolina. His 73 matched Graham for the team's low round of the day. Graham tied for 25th on the final leaderboard at 7-over 223.
Matt Marshall, who was seventh after the first day, tied for 20th overall afer shooting 78. Phil Huffman and Ramie Sprinkling each had 77's, tying for 55th and 58th, respectively, in the final standings.
Dustin Garza of Wichita State had a 70 on Tuesday, earning medalist honors at 6-under 210. Joshua Kelley of Saint Mary's was second two shots behind while Ryan Spears of Wichita State and Gunner Wiebe of San Diego were three shots of the pace.
UC Davis returns to action at the Oregon Duck Invitational on Mar. 24-25.
