NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- Senior Nate Pistacchio shot an even-par 70 in Monday's second round - the Aggie men's best round of the day - and is tied for ninth after the 36 holes of the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic at Notre Dame and leading the UC Davis men into sixth place.

Pistacchio, who is at 5-over 145, led three Aggies among the top 12 places, a group that also includes Austin Graham and Ramie Sprinkling who are one shot back of their teammate and tied for 11th. Brent Booth is tied for 35th at 10-over 150 while freshman Tyler Raber is tied for 57th, four shots behind Booth.

The Aggies, who opened with a 13-over 293 in Monday's morning round, carded a 294 in the afternoon and are in sixth place, one shot behind fifth-place Lamar. Minnesota is 19 over and holds a one-shot advantage over Arkansas in the team standings. Michigan State and Virginia are tied for third, just four behind the tournament-leading Golden Gophers.

The Aggies are five shots in front of seventh-place Southeastern Louisiana. Sixteen teams are participating in the tournament which is being contested at the 7,023-yard Warren Golf Course.

Pistacchio cut five shots off his opening-round 75 with his even-par round in the afternoon. He was 2 over after only five holes of his second round and was at that same score later before firing birdies on two of his final three holes to fight back for a 70.

Graham led 51st-ranked UC Davis in the first round with a very steady 71. His 18 holes included nine straight pars to start and four more to end. He had a 75 in the afternoon. Sprinkling, who had back-to-back 73's, had one birdie in the morning and two more in the afternoon.

Booth shot 74 and then 76, highlighting his first round with 13 pars, while Raber opened with a 75 before carding a 79.

Three players - Randy Hutchison of Michigan State, Andrew Landry of Arkansas and Kyle Stough of Virginia - share a two-shot lead for medalist honors. Each are at 1 over.

The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday.
