DAVIS, Calif. - Freshman Olivia Jarem scored four goals while sophomore Patrice Clark had two goals and two assists to lead UC Davis to an 11-8 win over Siena in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Aggie Field Thursday afternoon.

The Aggies even their record to 2-2. The Saints, members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, open at 0-1.

Senior Megan O'Connor and junior Katie McGovern each added two goals for UC Davis. O'Connor also had eight ground balls and four caused turnovers. Freshman Molly Lapolla provided two assists for the Aggies.

Sophomore midfielder Lindsey Rosencrans scored three goals with an assist, while junior Lynn Harkins had a 2-1-3 offensive chart to lead Siena.

UC Davis scored five unanswered goals in the first 19 minutes to open the game before Harkins broke the Saints' scoring drought in the 25th minute. The Aggies converted three eight-meter shots in that span, and held a 6-1 lead at the halftime break.

The Aggies protected their lead in the early stages after the break, taking a 10-5 lead with 11:28 when O'Connor earned a ground ball pick-up near the Siena 8-meter area, then sprinted the length of the field for an unassisted strike.

Siena battled back as Rosencrans scored two of her three second-half goals in the 54th and 55th minutes, cutting the Aggie lead to 10-7. Harkins added an eight-meter goal with less than five minutes remaining to trim the margin to just two goals. However, UC Davis held the Saints scoreless in the final minutes to close out the win. O'Connor scooped up the ensuing draw control after Harkins' goal, which set the stage for Jarem's fourth goal of the game at 56:16.

Junior goalkeeper Hilary Harkins, no relation to Siena's Lynn, secured seven saves in the Aggie crease. Junior Heather Ely had nine saves in front of the opposite cage for Siena.

UC Davis returns to action for a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game at California on Sunday, March 4.
