STOCKTON, Calif. - The UC Davis men's golf team, behind 3-under 69's from Ramie Sprinkling and Nate Pistacchio, shot a 10-under 278 team score for the second consecutive day to remain in third place at the Stockton Sports Commission Pacific Invitational after 36 holes.
All four Aggie scorers broke par with freshman Austin Graham and senior Matt Marshall each carding 70's. Pistacchio, who had a 67 in Monday's first round, is tied for fourth at 8-under 136.
Marshall is tied for 17th at 5-under, Graham is tied for 22nd at 4-under and Sprinkling is three shots under par through 36 holes and tied for 24th. Brent Booth had a 75 and is at 149. The tournament is being contested over the 6,777-yard Brookside Country Club course.
UC Davis, which began the day tied for third with top-ranked Charlotte, is in third place at 20-under 556 leading into Wednesday's final round. Kansas State continued to set the pace for the 14-team tournament, shooting 274 on Tuesday for a 36-hole total of 547 and a six-shot lead over Charlotte.
Oregon, ranked 46th, is in fourth, two shots behind the Aggies, while Fresno State rounds out the top five at 560.
Pistacchio had three birdies on each side during his round of 69 while Sprinkling had three on his front nine and two on the back. Graham posted four, Marshall had three and Booth carded a pair.
Stefan Widergruen of Charlotte backed up his opening-round 66 with a 67 in the second round and is at 11-under, good enough for a one-shot lead over Nick Delio of Cal State Northridge and Joe Ida of Kansas State.
UC Davis' five players will begin teeing off at 9:20 a.m. on Wednesday as the Aggies play the final round of their last fall tournament of the season.
