IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Davis women's swimming and diving team went 2-2 on the final day of the UC Irvine/Lincoln Aquatics Shootout at Anteater Pool Saturday afternoon to finish third overall during the two-day tournament. The Aggies defeated Cal Poly (73-40) and Pepperdine (74.5-38.5), but dropped duals to Hawaii (81-32) and host UC Irvine (60-53).

The Aggies claimed an overall record of 4-2 at the highly competitive tournament to finish third behind Hawaii, who earned a perfect 7-0 record and the host Anteaters (7-1).

Freshmen Linda Hermann and Amanda Holman captured the only victories for UC Davis on the day. Holman, who enjoyed a team-leading two victories yesterday, won the 50-yard freestyle in 24.14 and also finished third in the 100 free (52.95). Hermann claimed her victory in the 200 free with a time of 1:53.00.

UC Davis had another successful day in the relay events with a second-place showing in the 400 free relay (3:31.16) and a third-place finish in the opening 400 medley relay (3:55.71).

Senior Ashley Cayford was second in the 200 breaststroke in 2:20.46 and freshman Tyler Ring finished third in the 1,000 free (10:37.13) to highlight other top finishes for UC Davis.

On the diving side of things, senior Krysta Chaldekas was the top Aggie finisher on both boards with her best finish being third on the high board (249.95). Emma Friesen of Hawai'i won both diving events. The Aggie men also sent two divers to the meet in freshman Paul Navo and senior Stephen Lee.

The women's team will take the next three weeks off to train before returning to action Nov. 29 at the Husky Invitational in Seattle, Wash. The men are next in action Nov. 15 at the Speedo Cup in Long Beach.
